Why shoot film?

Why the fuck not…

There’s the age old question, why shoot film? I don’t have a spiritual quote about how it enlightens to me to live life to the fullest or to go out there and be adventurous! On the contrary, it’s made me lazier than ever before ahaha. What I mean by that is, I’m slowing down on taking photos, when I see a composition I don’t just fire off 5 shots of the same thing like I used to with digital.

I was walking around work (elementary school) and I noticed some nice comps but I only had my phone so I took a photo of each comp which was weird but it was nice to see one subject in several different ways. What film photography has done to me is I now see things differently, I don’t just immediately fire off a roll because I feel like I ~have~ to but because I want to. Later today I’m going to an abandoned restaurant 5 mins from my work because I can’t stop thinking about how cool it’ll look on 120 film (photos coming when I send them to get developed…)

Folks have made the argument of “you only shoot film because of the aesthetic” which can be said for a few but it’s also like, who fucking cares? We don’t need to judge anyone on how/what they’re shooting with. The point of it all is to have fun and shoot whatever you want. PeriodT (did I do that right?) If anything, I WANT more people to shoot film because it will keep the medium alive and allow others to appreciate the beauty in it or whatever. This blog is a bit of a mess but I like it that way lmao
